I will add my own take on why the fediverse is straight-up dogshit.
Try to interact with the fediverse as a single entity
Let's assume you want to have your independent website, want to share your posts and/or thoughts with others on the fediverse, but without self-hosting a fediverse instance. How hard can it be?
The clusterfuck begins
Here are some, but not limited to, specifications on how to reach people:
Don't ask me what a WebFinger is; I don't fucking know.
Why do I assume that it's harder to set up than mounting your music folder to Navidrome on NixOS? Because I already went through the hell!
At the same time, we already have a well-established way to share blog posts and news, SINCE March 15, 1999. Believe it or not, many news sites offer an RSS feed. While it's not as common as it used to be, it's much easier to interact with, read, and extend an RSS feed than to interact with the fediverse. If your favorite site doesn't offer an RSS feed, you can brute-force one with e.g. RSS-Bridge. Now what should you do if you cannot find a way? Then ask your favorite clanker; they will find one ;).
Which already working protocol shall we enshittify next?

Git forges. That's the obvious one.
Hell no, please not my beloved git instance which anyone can reach over ssh git@git.cashmere.rs.
Don't I participate myself on bluesky and even link it?
That's 100% true! Bluesky is backed by VC money. That's also the reason why almost all of my posts there are trash posts :). If you want the good esoteric stuff, you have to add my RSS feed to your reader or visit my website. Even AI scrapers visit my site and extract value from my website. Why don't you do the same???
