My setup (2024)
here you can see an overview of my current setup (づ ◕‿◕ )づ
lenovo thinkpad t480s
cpu: intel i5-8350u 24gb ram 512gb ssd
i love this laptop. it weighs 1.3kg (which is really light for a laptop), i can run virtual machines smoothly on it and other programs even in the background.
the keyboard is very comfortable to type on for a long time. i actually use it for everything. watching videos, programming, project planning, occasionally very light image editing. i miss you photoshop (シ. .)シ
i run nixos as my operating system (i use nixos btw) and to synchronize notifications, files and more i use kde connect. a lifesaver.
pixel 7 with grapheneos
there's not much to say about it. it's a smartphone, but to be honest i hardly use it. i have grapheneos for privacy and security and i especially like the profiles, where i can install my own apps for each profile to isolate social media, my banking apps, from other apps. each profile is really independent from the other and they have many other great features. everyone who has a pixel should take a look at it.
ipod classic 4 generation
i use it to listen to music, who would have thought it ヽ(°〇°)ノ. i bought the device in july and it was an adventure. at the beginning i thought i would buy it and gradually i upgraded it. after two weeks the entire hard disk broke hahaha. now i directly changed the old 20gb hard disk to a 128gb sd card, as well as the battery. now the device runs super fast and the battery finally lasts more than 3 hours. did i scratch the device, more than it was already scratched? of course. did i half-scratch the device when i replaced it, had half a heart attack, had software problems only to find a 3 year old solution on reddit that was so weird that it worked, i had a good feeling that it would work and it actually worked in the end and that's an overlong sentence but it's extra so to represent this unnecessary headache? yes i did. did i see all the problems coming? yes i saw that coming too. then why am i giving myself this headache? because i love it. still, maybe i spent a bit too much on the device and i should have bought the 5th generation instead, but the experience was still great.
kindle scribe
if i were in a relationship with the kindle scribe, the status would be "it's complicated". i mainly use it for notes. when i tried to jailbreak it right after i bought it, i restarted it as a precaution and lo and behold. it updated automatically. it's very integrated into the amazon ecosystem, which i hate. that's why it's sitting in airplane mode waiting for the next jailbreak. the notes function works and does what it's supposed to. it's still not comparable to a remarkable. of course it's not the "main function" according to amazon and it's more for reading books. but why do you bring out such a device? you would only have to adapt the software, not even the hardware. i hope that either updates or an upcoming jailbreak will improve the situation.
